Vlogging with DigiWomen

Today was another day filled with learning and having fun with social media. As every week the DigiWomen as well as the facilitators were excited to be together in one room. As we do check ins every week, this week was no different but they were asked to say how the classes has changed them up till now. Sitting there and listening to the ladies speaking on how they feel the need to be empowered and how their thinking has changed since they started with the classes. They also understand that being empowered now means that they need to pass on and empower someone else. Last week the ladies started blogging and this week they were shown how to do video blogging(vlogging). Some of them were nervous and that is to be understood because it's something new but just being in the room to give assistance made them feel at ease. They were shown how to search for a video on You tube that they wanted to add to their blog. Once they found what they wanted they were shown how to add it in their blogs. Everyone posted a blog with a video. I am so proud of the progress the ladies are making, You go DIGIWOMEN!!!!

Valentia - Today

Hello world. Today is filled with amazing God given opportunities. Dont you just feel it? Opportunities to turn a challenge into victory; opportunities to make a positive difference in someones life; opportunities to grow. I love the expression "growing old". How wonderful is it not that we can grow while we age. Yesterday I came across a book that is nearly 100 years old. I loved the "old" smell of it. Rcently I came across the fragile paper fragments of a letter written by my late dad over 60 years ago. Again I loved the "oldness" of it. Technology amazes me but I feel a sense of sorrow that future generations that follow from my lineage will never know the smell of an old book or listen with pure joy to the rustling of the turning pages of a great novel. They will not know the joy and intrigue that I experienced when I found my late dad's old letters to his family. Email and blogging is great but it is distant and lacks the emotion that comes when pen gets put to paper and even better when that hand written paper is discovered decades later. I hope we dont move so far technologically that we lose the sense and smell of old paper.

I have to plan my day around Nicola, and Jessica today. Canal walk seems to be central.

We will all meet there at 2pm. Lets see how that goes. Looking forward to catch up guys.

after this class I will have to get myself to the bus station ,on troute to Canal . I am happy
today. Nickic I havent seen in 2 years ,and Jessica is visiting from Korea. and will be leaving soon.

I will then have to get ready for this evening as the Fam. is planning a baby shower for Nickic
before she goes back to Canada on the weekend. At this wonder full age of 70 I really did not
plan on having such full and busy days. I thank God for all the special people in my life.

love you all.

This feeling inside!

It's the second week since the Elohim Ministry Young Adults Camp and I am still "High" from all that happened on the camp.

I find myself thinking back TO THE WEEKEND: the sessions, the interaction, the participation, the PEOPLE, the constant presence of THE HOLY SPIRIT, the love, peace, acceptance, laughter and fun we had, several times a day. Just thinking of it, fills me. It brings an instant smile to my face.

It was time out for me to spend time with The Lord and now I desire more and more of Him. For I have been refreshed, revived and restored! This feeling I have inside, it's all good. It makes me feel like I'm walking on air.

I'm so high on life, on God, on living that nothing can get me down. I have this constant desire to share Christ with those who comes my way.

I wish you can share this feeling. It's a feeling that only God satisfies with joy, peace, love and beauty!

I pray you find your "ME TIME" with God and be in Awe of what He is doing in your life and connect with YOUR OWN FEELING INSIDE of completeness!

DigiWomen - Uplifting Women through Digital Media

She’s the Geek, RLabs and Impact Direct were out at the City Mission head office in Burns Road, Salt River a few weeks ago quick starting a project called DigiWomen: Uplifting Women through Digital Media.

It’s a 7 week programme that includes Digitizing Women and having them create, share and engage using technology to become empowered and empower other women.

But before we started with the technology training it was important to have the women pampered and getting spoiled.

Impact Direct, a community organisation doing amazing work in the community were doing the actual pampering for the women. Below are a few pics of the big smiles and happiness being shared among the women.

Over the next couple of weeks we are introducing the women to Google and of course blogging! As it started on the last day of women’s month its was only appropriate that we ended it with some pampering and inspiration to prepare them for the world of technology that they are entering.

We are excited about the next 6 weeks. Watch this space.
